Mobile Maintenance Manager

Essential Functions: Environmental and Health & Safety (H&S) Providing a safe environment for all employees, customers and visitors. Responsible to ensure all Metals Business Safety and Environmental Standards are strictly adhered to and is encouraged to suggest and submit recommendations for improving safety or environmental conditions in accordance with company policies in consort with the Regional Safety Engineers(s) and/or Regional Environmental Manager as applicable. Additionally, they will conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, environmental awareness, or equipment use. Operational Performance & Best Business Practices Responsible for determining schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel. Responsible for developing, monitoring and evaluating maintenance policies and procedures, examine objects, systems, or facilities and analyze information to determine needed installations, services or repairs. Responsible for compiling and reporting on operations and personnel records, such as time and production records, inventory data, repair and maintenance statistics, and test results via the use of Microsoft Office and Oracle EAM applications. Coordinates processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. Daily collaboration and communication with other supervisors, managers and staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures or achieve goals and objectives. Plans, organizes and manages the work of direct reports to ensure that the optimal performance is achieved in a manner consistent with organizational requirements and business objectives and goals. Budgeting & Forecasting Responsible for continuously monitoring, negotiating and adjusting, all contracts, leases, expenses or agreements associated with the maintenance operations function. Responsible for monitoring department spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets. Provides proposal for the annual Maintenance budget for their assigned facility(s), which will be reviewed by Regional Facility Management. Awareness of and strategic response to external influences, such as DOT and OSHA legislation is vital.  Administrative Management Monitors and maintains exempt and hourly staff at cost effective and competitive levels. Monitors supervisory practices for self and his/her direct reports to ensure compliance with HR policies and union contracts. Reviews performance of direct reports. Interviews prospective management and/or production employees. Works with Human Resources personnel to prepare job descriptions. Special Projects Special projects as assigned.             Interpersonal Contacts: External contacts are made by phone, email and face-to-face contact with others, specifically with contractors, customers and vendors.  Internal contacts are made by phone, email and face-to-face contact with others, specifically the divisions of the Schnitzer Group. Supervisory Responsibility: See the Maintenance Organizational Chart for all direct and indirect reporting lines. This positions supervises electricians, welders, heavy equipment mechanics, truck mechanics, and other maintenance mechanics at their assigned facility. Internal Control Responsibilities: Communicate upward problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions. Support the Company's Internal Control process which includes understanding, communicating and complying with defined internal controls as well as design, assessment, implementation, communication, and monitoring controls to better relate to the business and in accordance with regulations and laws. The incumbent will maintain policies and procedures to ensure efficient operations and ensure adequate internal controls, which will continuously be reviewed and updated.  Job Conditions: Workload is cyclical and can present significant time pressures when strict adherence to deadlines is critical. Workload is often reactive and cannot be anticipated or planned for. Often many extra hours are required, weekend, weekday and holidays. Exposure to physical operations at metal recycling yards. Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions. Work pressure can be substantial during peak times, requiring considerable adaptability; disturbances of work flow, and/or irregularities in work schedule are expected and occur on an intermittent basis. Regular overtime is required. Required Skills Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions: (see standard available bullets) Example: Ability to: lift and carry up to 10 pounds occasionally; sit for extended periods of time, up to 6-8 hours per day; write by hand and keyboard for extended periods of time, up to 6-8 hours per day; assemble papers, paper punch, staple, file; apply sufficient force to open and close file drawers. Ability to communicate by speech and hearing continuously. Communication is primarily by phone, email and sometimes in person, with other departments within the Schnitzer Group. Visual acuity needed for close detail work, preparing and analyzing data figures, accounting, and computer use. Required Experience Qualifications: Minimum 5-10 years' experience, or equivalent, in a related industrial environment. Previous supervisor or management experience in related field. College courses in business or management helpful. This position requires possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to drive an automobile.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
