DuPont Pioneer is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform mechanical maintenance functions including preventive maintenance, repairs, and building maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will implement the comprehensive safety programs that directly affect employees in the Des Moines / Johnston area.
Duties/
Responsibilities:
BUILDING MAINTENANCE
Contribute to the mechanical maintenance team by performing advanced building maintenance, preventive maintenance, repairs, and projects to control/maintain the environment and working conditions for employees and to control/maintain laboratory conditions required for company research activities. Assure jobs are completed in a timely manner. Interface as needed with contractors to coordinate projects and vendors/suppliers regarding needed materials and supplies. Preventive maintenance such as, general troubleshooting, and repair responsibilities include: Automated building management system (ABM), Install field processing units, Set point modifications, Monitor systems.
Refrigeration including: charge systems, evacuate systems and test, replace compressors, replace filters, solder/weld piping, troubleshoot electronic controls, high voltage (480v) equipment replacement and troubleshooting, growth chamber refrigeration systems. Heating, Cooling, Ventilation including: change filters and belts, ductwork modifications, fan and motor replacement, condenser and evaporator cleaning, variable volume air controls, pneumatic controls installation, balance, and calibration, boiler cleaning and adjustment.
Plumbing including: weld/solder piping, fixture installation and repair, valve and pump replacement, systems modifications (plumbing, gas, vacuum), sprinkler maintenance, glass piping modifications.
Electrical including: wire installation and termination, light fixture installation, low voltage (24V-120) and high voltage (208-277-480) troubleshooting and repair, fire alarm/security installation and maintenance (DMS/Johnston and remote systems), special equipment repairs (IM and Labs), electrical test and monitoring equipment.
Carpentry including: repair walls, wall coverings, flooring materials, and furniture, install and repair doors and windows.
Miscellaneous including snow removal.
SCHEDULE/ORGANIZE WORK USING PM SYSTEM
Prioritize and organize work schedule by utilizing PM system reports and work orders. Maintain accuracy, neatness, and code requirements. Work with shop's Purchasing Coordinator to order necessary materials and supplies. Maintain all work on the PM/Work order system which is updated daily for review by supervisor. Duties include: enter daily work orders, maintain work order summary, close out work orders properly, and utilize bar code wands when doing work or using inventory.
TEAMWORK
Participate as part of Building Maintenance team by attending meetings, working as a team member with co-workers on problem solving and utilizing their assistance. Coordinate with supervisor when decision making questions are needed for job completion.
OTHER
Assist with special projects as assigned. Conduct personal and professional development. Available to work on-call as needed. Respond and resolve a wide variety of Facilities related issues. Monitor compliance with safety standards and policies. Works from combined use of judgment, instructions, and standard procedures. Decisions made on complex situations that directly impact the employee production.
Education and Experience
2 year technical degree 3-5 years of experience OR high school diploma and at least 5 years of related experience.
Preferred licenses include: Valid driver's license, 1st or 2nd Class Stationary, Engineers license, and Journeyman Plumber's License. BOMA SMA certification or equivalent preferred.
